ZEBRA DS9900 SERIES: 2-in-1 Barcode Scanners for Retail

The new hybrid DS9900 barcode scanner series by Zebra is optimized for retail POS systems. It provides powerful reading performance for 1D and 2D barcodes, Digimarc and documents. Even poor-quality codes can be decoded at first time. The wide field of view allows fast and reliable barcode capture for improved checkout procedures, eliminating the time-consuming positioning of items. The DS9900 series barcode scanners combine two modes: presentation and handheld mode. In hands-free mode, the scan range is reduced to avoid unintentional scanning of nearby barcodes. In handheld mode, the extended scan range allows comfortable barcode reading at a distance of up to 24 inches (62 cm). As soon as the scanner is picked up, the device will switch into handheld mode automatically. As an option, the DS9900 barcode scanners are compatible with EAS deactivation systems, deactivating EAS tags while scanning.

For quick and easy setup, the barcode scanners of the Zebra DS9900 series are configured for the most common applications enabling plug-and-play operation. The 800 MHz microprocessor and various software tools ensure you get the best out of the DS9900 POS scanners. Zebra’s “DataCapture DNA” includes, for example, PRZM Intelligent Imaging Technology for optimized barcode capturing performance, 123Scan to create configuration barcodes, SMS Scanner Management Service for individual configuration, firmware updates and remote management. Remote diagnostics and analytics programs identify issues that slow down the scanning process. Zebra also provides SDKs for Windows, Android, iOS or Linux. Supported host interfaces are: USB, RS232, Keyboard Wedge, TGCS (IBM) 46xx over RS485. The scanners select the right host interface automatically.

The Zebra DS9900 series barcode scanners come with an ergonomic form factor for convenient use. Simple handling and fast performance of up to 240 inches (610 cm) swipe speed in presentation mode, ensure a smooth checkout process. The user receives good-read feedback. Built for everyday use, the scanner series DS9900 by Zebra is equipped with a less vulnerable single circuit board. The scanners comply with protection class IP52 (DS9908). They can withstand drops from a height of up to 1.5 m.

Optimized for POS, there is also an optional RFID model (DS9908R) available. It enables the reading and writing of RFID data. The Zebra DS9900 RFID version also allows the scan of multiple items at once without visual contact. With the RFID data conversion software, the scanners can be easily integrated, requiring no modification of existing POS systems. The RFID model complies with protection class IP42 and withstands drops from 1.2 m.
