ZEBRA DS55 SERIES: Small, Fixed Mount Barcode Scanners for Retail, the Medical Sector, and Self-service Solutions

Renowned scanning technology for extensive applications: With their sleek, modern design, the compact DS55 barcode scanners cut a fine figure—especially where space is limited. They look stylish at the checkout in a fashion boutique, but also offer a space-saving solution at the POS in a grocery store. Another option would be to mount them invisibly under the counter. There is also a white version that is specially designed for medical environments such as laboratories, hospitals or pharmacies. All models are suitable for frequent cleaning. They are sealed against the ingress of dust and liquids in accordance with protection class IP54. The scanners have a high drop resistance and are suitable for operating temperatures between -20 °C and +50 °C.

Installation in self-service stations: The compact design of the DS55 series enables integration of the scanners into self-service solutions such as pickup lockers, buy online pickup in store (BOPIS) solutions, or ticket kiosks. Various cable and connector options are available for installation, for example different cable lengths and angled connectors.

Unmatched scanning performance: Reliable barcode reading is crucial for fast processes. The high-performance DS55 series’ barcode scanners capture barcodes and matrix codes at a reading speed of up to 254 cm (100 in) per second. Even poor-quality codes, such as badly printed, damaged, or dirty barcodes, are scanned correctly. The DS55 series’ scanners enable barcode capture from displays. They also offer Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and image capture. Graphics can then be exported as Bitmap, JPEG or TIFF. The DS5502-LB model is white and able to capture barcodes that are frequently used in medical areas including particularly dense barcodes, and barcodes on curved vials or color-coded containers.

User-friendly for universal applications: The DS55 series’ barcode scanners have a large, omnidirectional field of view. Barcodes only need to be presented, not aligned. The scanning range is between approx. 2 cm and 91 cm. The green aimer is clearly visible. An LED light and an acoustic signal provide clear good-read confirmation after a successful scan.

Software: The Zebra DNA software solution includes multiple tools for simple remote configuration and management of the devices. Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting options are also available. In addition, Zebra DNA provides solutions for optimized scan performance. Various SDKs facilitate integration into business applications. USB and RS-232 interfaces are integrated.

Mounting options: The 3-in-1 mounting accessory provides an all-in-one solution for display mount, wall mount, and for use as presentation stand. Another option is the gooseneck presentation stand which is particularly suitable for POS applications. The standardized ¼-20 UNC mount also enables the use of a wide range of third-party mounting options.
