ZEBRA ZD621/ZD621R: A Long-term Investment

The premium label printer model ZD621 by Zebra can be tailored according to business needs. It is available as direct thermal or thermal transfer model, RFID model or linerless model. The Zebra ZD621 is compatible with any Windows, Android or iOS device and can even be used as standalone printer, either with the integrated touch display option or with the Zebra Keyboard Display Unit (ZKDU) accessory.

The ENERGY STAR certified label printer Zebra ZD621 provides an intuitive user interface consisting of 5 LED icons and 3 keys. As option, the printer is also available with a 4.3-inch color touch screen. A user-friendly menu enables direct interaction with the printer. The display also provides step-by-step setup wizards as well as support with media loading, calibration and troubleshooting.

The ZD621 desktop printer offers Zebra’s well-known reliability and print quality. The integrated media dancer leads the print media and keeps it slightly tensioned to ensure excellent print results. The ZD621 has a print resolution of 203 dpi or optional 300 dpi. It reaches a maximum print speed of 8 ips or 203 mm per second. The maximum print width is 104 mm at 203 dpi and 108 mm at 300 dpi. Because of its movable media sensor, the ZD621 printer can process a huge variety of print media: roll-fed or fanfold, die-cut or continuous with or without black mark, label or tag stock, receipt paper rolls, wristbands, linerless media (linerless printer model only). Zebra’s OpenACCESS clamshell printer design ensures simple media and ribbon change and enables easy access for maintenance.

Print DNA is a comprehensive set of software tools provided by Zebra. The Print DNA software suite includes tools for remote management, for fast and easy setup, integration and monitoring of one or multiple Zebra devices. The application “Virtual Devices” enables emulation of third-party printer languages. PDF documents can be printed without detours using the “PDF Direct” tool. “PrintSecure” provides protection against cyberattacks, ensures secure connections and prevents unauthorized access to keep data safe at all times.

As standard, the Zebra ZD621 label printer comes with Ethernet, serial, USB 2.0 and USB Host connectivity. Add wireless interfaces by means of a WiFi and Bluetooth module, which is available factory installed or field installable for retrofitting. Bluetooth connectivity enables the use of a mobile app that provides easy printer setup functionality and how-to video tutorials.

Some applications may require a mobile label printing solution. The ZD621 by Zebra can be equipped with a high-capacity battery to enable on-site printing, suitable, for example, for the use on mobile work stations or with a carrying case.

The Zebra ZD621 label printer is available with RFID functionality. The ZD621R is equipped with the Zebra RE40 RFID Reader/Encoder module. It supports UHF EPC Gen 2 V2, ISO/IEC 18000-63 and RAIN RFID protocols and ensures wide usability and flexible media compatibility. RFID tags are ideal for applications where full traceability is vital, for example in the food and beverage industry or in healthcare. The ZD621R is a thermal transfer printer.
