DATALOGIC GRYPHON 4200 SERIES: Linear Handheld Barcode Readers for Multi-purpose Applications Including Healthcare

The Gryphon 4200 series by Datalogic excels in scan performance. All major 1D barcodes can be captured, even high-density and low-resolution codes. If barcodes are poorly printed or damaged, the barcode readers of the Gryphon 4200 series will still capture them correctly. Depending on the barcode, the hand scanners allow scan distances from 2.5 cm to 73.5 cm enabling, for example, convenient barcode scanning of items in the shopping cart.

The barcode readers of the Datalogic Gryphon 4200 series are suitable for a large variety of application scenarios. They are ideal for modern points of sale, for they are able to read barcodes from paper or screen. JPOS and OPOS applications are included and are available for download. Applications in public service, light manufacturing or access control are possible. Additionally, because of their disinfectant-ready housing, the barcode scanners of the Gryphon 4200 series are a good choice for healthcare applications. There is a white model available to suit healthcare environments.

For ease of use, the Gryphon 4200 series’ barcode readers come with an ergonomic form factor and provide point-and-shoot simplicity. The clearly visible red line makes it is easy to aim at the barcode. Once the barcode has been captured, the user receives good-read confirmation by means of Datalogic’s patented Green Spot on the barcode, green LED lights on the scanner and an adjustable beeper. Datalogic’s Motionix motion-sensing technology automatically switches between handheld and presentation scanning modes.

The corded model Datalogic Gryphon GD4200 meets the requirements of stationary applications, for example at POS. However, if a more flexible solution is needed, the two cordless versions GBT4200 and GM4200 offer the necessary mobility. Both versions enable point-to-point as well as point-to-multipoint data transmission. They provide a batch mode to store data on the device. The Gryphon GBT4200 comes with Bluetooth 4.0 BLE technology. It provides a radio range of up to 100 m. One receiver can be connected to maximal 7 devices, enabling multi-point applications. The Gryphon GM4200 is equipped with STAR Cordless System, a narrow band radio solution available for 433 MHz or 910 MHz frequencies. Narrow band connectivity prevents interference with Wi-Fi networks. It allows 50 m radio range. Up to 16 scanners can be connected to one base station.

New wireless charging technology reduces maintenance requirements of the Gryphon GBT4200 and GM4200 mobile scanners. Fully charged, the linear barcode readers are able to capture up to 80,000 barcodes. Datalogic provides two charging cradle solutions. The WLC4190 cradle is suitable for desk or wall mount and comes with USB Type C, USB, RS-232 and keyboard wedge interfaces. The WLC4090 cradle enables scanning while charging. To ensure convenient use, the scanner position can be adjusted. The charging station provides USB, RS-232 and keyboard wedge interfaces.

It has become apparent that hygienically clean devices are not only vital in the healthcare context. To protect staff members who use the Datalogic Gryphon 4200 series’ barcode scanners, the devices can be cleaned with harsh chemicals used in medical environments. The handheld scanners are also able to withstand drops from a height of 1.8 m to concrete and sealed in compliance with protection class IP52.
